The City of Abbotsford is working to create a 25-year development vision for the area around the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), otherwise known as the University District or the 'U District'.

The U District is a strategic location in the City of Abbotsford. The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) and the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre (AESC) are important economic drivers and transit destinations in the region and will contribute significantly to the growth and diversification of the local economy and a vibrant, mixed-use, amenity-rich community. In addition, the location of the U District adjacent to the McCallum interchange and a primary transit corridor provides excellent visibility and highway access, strengthening the potential for higher intensity land-use in a walkable, transit-oriented urban form.

Once completed, the U District vision will provide a blueprint for planned and predictable development that supports UFV and the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre and creates a vibrant neighbourhood that is home to existing and new owners, tenants, businesses and residents.
